(it's nothing short of a struggle to calm the nerves shooting through his whole body in excitement. he's here, at sakura's house, ready to take her on a proper date as a couple. even simply texting her the night before made his heart skip a beat, and just remembering being able to walk her home brought a light pink color to his cheeks.
and today promised something even more special.
being able to go to sleep thinking about sakura, waking up and doing the same. sharing good night and good morning texts. it's not something syaoran ever really saw himself doing. but now a simple ping from her has his heart swelling and his mood going straight to overjoyed. sure, there's always the risk of a card showing up and ruining everything. actually, aside from a card showing up, there's plenty that could go wrong. but even syaoran, who's always ready to notice the down side of things, can't find it in himself to think like that for long. it doesn't matter to him what goes wrong, as long as sakura doesn't get hurt and can keep a smile on her face, syaoran will consider the date a success.
he'd even called up meiling to discuss it with her, get some pointers on what he should and shouldn't do. naturally, it was difficult for him to do, wondering if she still held any feelings over him ending their engagement. but he was only met with cries of "finally!" and a few other remarks about how she couldn't believe it had taken them this long.
despite the initial concern that discussing dating sakura would hurt meiling, syaoran was able to sleep peacefully that night, and greet the next morning better than if he'd simply been left to his own thoughts. his dreams were nothing to write home about, simply normal odd dreams. but even so, syaoran felt at peace. he was content with that. even if dreams didn't make him smile, the thought of the next day gave him plenty to smile over.
of course, that confidence fizzled out once he actually made it to her home. he has to do whatever he can to make the mood stay pleasant, even with touya around. he has to present himself as a boyfriend good enough for sakura! polite, kind, responsible, not easily provoked by big brothers with a sister complex.
when she answers the door, syaoran stares with a soft blush on his face, the only thought running through his mind being how pretty she is. sakura has always been cute or pretty in his mind, but seeing how she's properly grown up, become a little more composed and confident has him truly appreciating what he has.
