[Good evening, Akira. Did you ask for a detective type today?

Haru was the new transfer student of Shujin Academy and she was getting a lot of attention. Her bizarre off kilter personality along with her ungodly long hair made her look like she was straight out of a horror movie. Above all else, she was a meddler who enjoyed pursuing and solve small crimes in class. She really didn't have a reason to do it beyond being bored and pursing her own sense of justice.

Though whenever she sensed something wrong, Haru intended to pursue it to the source. Right now, it was only a hunch... A mere hunch, but she wanted to visit Cafe Leblanc. A rather popular student was said to be working there. Whenever Akira comes back from whatever he was doing for the day, Haru is sitting in a seat with her long rapunzel hair hitting the floor.]

Yo! Do you always keep your customers waiting? Or this is supposed to be a tsundere cafe?

Nnnnnope. I'm just not on the clock.

[answered rather nonchalantly without a care in the world. he doesn't seem to be bothered by her attitude or her words in the slightest bit; if she did end up wanting to pursue the phantom thieves, then so be it. he wanted a little competition, anyway.

but more importantly, he knew that anyone who tried to go after them would simply... fail.

after all, he could just go back to the Velvet Room, see if he could make another deal and then. well. they would see where that goes. but for now, he's just playing it off like nothing's wrong.]

[She looks rather smug whenever she says that. Though quite honestly, she wanted to move onto bigger and better things. That's why the Phantom Thieves seemed like a good starting point. She heard about the Detective Prince was talking about them... But he had mysteriously disappeared. That felt like another mystery altogether.

There's a pause as if Haru had realized that she wasn't speaking proper Japanese just now.]

There's a rumor about a classroom being haunted by a talking black cat. Turns out that it was actually just a stuffed toy and a student was just really good at ventriloquism. They get points for creativity, but it's too late for halloween.

[Her red eye was watching his back as if studying him, then it looks back towards the television.]

And last week, there was a peeping tom who was taking photos in the girls' locker room. That turned out to be a teacher.

[he does have a cat in his bag almost all the time - a black one, mind you - but he doesn't seem to react about the whole 'haunting' thing at all; after all, nobody's supposed to hear Morgana talk unless they've been into the Metaverse. but if someone could hear him, then he'll just have to hunt that person down and. . .

well, he's getting a little distracted. he finishes the brew and pours it into a mug before swiftly turning around and placing it on the counter in front of her.]

Some adults are truly scum, aren't they? [spoken a little bitterly, with a frown. some things never change about him, even as he keeps his voice low, talking about this.] You'd think that the teachers would have learned after the Kamoshida incident.

[Haru plays around with a long bang of hair. He didn't say anything about the talking cat at all. In fact, he seemed to have tensed up a bit... Interesting.]

Tell me about it. It's hard to find decent role models nowadays. [She'll be taking a sip of her coffee.] I heard about what happened with him, but wasn't around whenever that incident was resolved. The Phantom Thieves changed his heart, didn't they?

[The winter is here and the cold has settled in. Sometimes cold enough that the air bites at your cheeks and waters your eyes. Today is such a day, so when a girl busts in through the cafe door it's no surprise she's seeking shelter.

What is a surprise is her bolting through the coffee shop, leaping over the counter, and hiding behind it. Her school uniform might be unfamiliar to him, and it's clear she's the type to roll the waistband of her skirt up to show off her long legs. What's unclear is why she's decided to take up residence behind the barista's counter.

Until a small group of men just a little older than them rowdily start shouting about someone they've been chasing and lost track of. Two of the five take off and go on ahead. Three of them push their way into the shop.

When Kaname hears the men step inside she shoots a pleading look up at the boy manning the cafe, and brings a finger to her lips.]

[thank goodness Akira hates adults and actually likes girls, huh? hence why he doesn't seem to be bothered by all of this and even allows her to hide behind the counter as he glances at the mysterious men]

Is there anything I can help you guys with?

[She's still concerned about the state of events, but at least she finds some relief in the fact he doesn't immediately give her up. Chidori tries pressing herself under the bar to be as difficult to spot as possible.

One of the men leans up against the bar. His bulky arms draped over the counter top as he tries to look care free and intimidating at the same time. Perhaps this is where one might notice tattoos to indicate these guys might be bad, but that isn't the case. No, these men seem to be well put together and in nice clothes. The kind of bad someone gets from living life a little too comfortably.

"We were looking for a friend, you see. Thought she might have dropped in recently for a drink. Have any customers come in wearing a red bow at the end of her hair?"]

[thankfully, he's friends with ex-yakuza and has guts of steel, so there's not even the slightest bit worried. or cornered, even. he does keep himself rather calm, cool and collected in the sight of danger and well...

helping girls is more important.]

I haven't seen anyone like that at all, sorry. Would you like some coffee, though? Or maybe curry.

[those are Leblanc's specialties after all, but he mostly wants them to leave as soon as possible]

[it's a code name that they've only ever used in the Metaverse, he's fairly certain that it wasn't leaked or anything like that; there's no way anybody could have possibly known those names. they were always simply known as "The Phantoms" or "The Phantom Thieves" or "The Phantom Thieves of Hearts"]

[The other two young men fall in beside the first. One pipes up, "Ain't even seen her through the windows?" while the other begins messing around with whatever is on the bar top. Pushing things aside. Tipping things over. Being a general nuisance.

"I'll buy a cup if you tell me where she went, friend," the first man replies.

Kaname holds her hand to her mouth to avoid accidentally making any noise.]

Ah, um... Ehehe. One of my favorite anime... 'Phantom Thief Panther'... She's, like...

[Haru flinches and doesn't look Akira in the eye. In fact, she holds her head like a creepy otaku as her hair sways about. This hunch that she was onto was becoming more stronger. So she keeps playing the creepy unamusing girl.]

S-Sorry... I'm a bit delusional. Every time I hear 'Phantom Thief', I can't help and get her sexy image into my mind. I've written some doujin about her... Are you into yuri?

[he's actually pretty suspicious at this point, in spite of the act that she seems to be putting on. maybe it's because he's also putting on an act himself, though

[That seems to have done it. The men look disgruntled and displeased, but the leader waves them off. He leaves with a scoff, and his little entourage follow swiftly behind. They leave without too much trouble.

The moment she hears the door shut behind them Kaname breathes a big, and very loud, sigh of relief. Her whole body seems to relax against the bar as her legs stretch out.]

[now he's got to ask because he can't help but be a little curious after he's managed to cover up for her. he knew the benefits were a lot more weighed against the negatives, which was. pretty much his reasoning for not outing her.

They're a bunch of jerks that tried ganging up on a girl the other day. One of them grabbed her skirt and flipped it up, so I broke his nose. Needless to say they're still not happy about it.

[Chidori pulls herself together and stands. Once up she smooths out her skirt and tries to find her way back to the proper side of the bar. Along the way she starts fixing the things the goons tipped over and messed with. She feels a sense of responsibility considering she was the one to bring trouble into the establishment in the first place.]

As a thank you I'll buy a drink. It's not exactly fair, but it's the least I can do for the inconvenience.

[Again, that was up for debate if that was a lie or not. Haru takes another sip from her coffee. Her voice takes a shift for the more serious as she brushes her hair back to reveal her striking red eyes.]

But that's not why I'm here. After following the trail of evidence, I had a feeling that you were one of them.

[Whenever she followed her intuition, she was usually right.]
