"Welcome to the S.S Phoenix! We hope you enjoy your stay!"

You open your eyes feeling a little stiff. The last thing you recall is seeing your planet get destroyed before a hand reached out to you--Captain's hand. You were then greeted with the same introductory phrase before receiving the keys to their brand new dorm, a device--you're told it's called the Babelfish, something that allows you to interact with others through the interdimensional network--and perhaps an extra thing or two.

You are then ushered into the onboarding area, where you can see your fellow passengers. Some foreign faces, perhaps even some familiar ones. Before you are given any time to think, however, Captain, at the head of the room, speaks up.

"Once again, welcome new guests, to the S.S. Phoenix! You may call me Captain. Today is your first day of onboarding, where you can get to learn more about us and your fellow passengers.

We are part of the Interdimensional Galactic Coalition, a system that was created to keep order and peace amongst the multiverse. This ship that you're currently in is now your new home. Consider the card that you have obtained your citizenship. However, staying here comes with a price.

As you already know, your worlds were destroyed. And we are here to help restore those worlds into proper order. But in order to do that, you must obtain Fragments. These mysterious Fragments will then power our ship's Revival Program. Those can be found in various worlds.

Now, if you have any further questions, now is the time to ask."

And she opens up the floor for questions--any questions.

[ OOC: Welcome, everyone, to a long form PSL in the form of Fragment Space! The premise of this is that your character's universes have been destroyed -- player's choice on the how -- and they have been rescued by the Captain to adventure to various worlds.

This PSL will very much be an exploration/mystery setup, with various types of settings that I will work with players on.

In terms of moving things along, I will try to make sure that things move smoothly at least once a month. If you need to contact me for any questions/comments/concerns, please ping me either on plurk (tsundereban) or Discord (tsunderebans)! As this is an open PSL for my timeline, characters who participate may also interact with each other if they'd like, or keep things separate. I'm willing to run with things either way. ]

[There was never going to be any mistaking that voice. Especially when she'd accepted she'd never hear it again. And yet... Here she is, hearing it, right as the girl she'd known to be gone for the longest time stumbles into her and Yuki's room, after she'd freshened up and gotten changed.]

...Aoi...?

[The clearly stunned look on Ruka's face doesn't help much. For those brief moments, she's an open book, and trying so hard to parse just what's going on in front of her.]

Huh...? Kayamori-san...! You're here...!

[ A smile starts to spread on her face... relief at a familiar face, joy at that familiar face being Ruka's...

But just as she quickly steps into the room, she finds herself stopping cold. ]

K... Kayamori-san? What's wrong...? Why are you... looking at me like that?

[ It's... like she's seen a ghost... ]

N--Nothing's wrong, Aoi. Really...!

[...it's harder than it needs to be to keep the cool act. She's not here. She's gone already. And all that's left is...

Ruka doesn't even try to finish that thought for fear of just breaking down again, right in front of the 'ghost' standing there before her eyes.]

I'm just... a little shocked, that's all. Between this and everything that landed us on this ship, I mean. [...and really, how could she not be shaken by that?]

[ Erika Aoi is many things. She lacks confidence, she's soft-spoken, and not the best at catching certain queues... but even she can tell when something is wrong. ]

Kayamori-san...

[ She's... she's not sure what to do. For that matter, there's something in the back of her head that makes her briefly hesitate, but... ]

...Are you sure? Did something else happen? You look...

[ The sound of her footsteps as she takes a few steps closer is very much real. She looks the exact same as she did that night, still wearing the ivy accessory around her wrist. ]

[...the least she can do is try not to make Aoi worry any more than she already has. She can... she can try to process all this later. Right now, a friend needs to know nothing's changed.

So she ruffles her hair a little in an attempt to pull herself together.]

Really, it's nothing that bad to worry about. If it does come back to bug me again, I'll let you know?

Besides, I'm more worried about how you're taking the new environment. I mean, this isn't exactly the base...

[And if she had to be fair, that was at least a reasonable thing to be worried about! None of them were exactly on familiar turf at the moment, not even a certain battleaxe for a Commander...]

[ Honestly, part of her still doesn’t believe that, but… it’d be rude if she tried to insist otherwise, wouldn’t it? Especially when she isn’t quite sure of what the problem might be. Maybe it really is just shock… the situation is pretty dire, after all. ]

Ah… yes, it really is a lot, isn’t it? Everything is like it’s straight out of science fiction…

[ Maybe that’s why they didn’t see her at first… she was too busy going pokaaaaan the whole time. ]

Still, Aoi is getting used to it!
