"Welcome to the S.S Phoenix! We hope you enjoy your stay!"

You open your eyes feeling a little stiff. The last thing you recall is seeing your planet get destroyed before a hand reached out to you--Captain's hand. You were then greeted with the same introductory phrase before receiving the keys to their brand new dorm, a device--you're told it's called the Babelfish, something that allows you to interact with others through the interdimensional network--and perhaps an extra thing or two.

You are then ushered into the onboarding area, where you can see your fellow passengers. Some foreign faces, perhaps even some familiar ones. Before you are given any time to think, however, Captain, at the head of the room, speaks up.

"Once again, welcome new guests, to the S.S. Phoenix! You may call me Captain. Today is your first day of onboarding, where you can get to learn more about us and your fellow passengers.

We are part of the Interdimensional Galactic Coalition, a system that was created to keep order and peace amongst the multiverse. This ship that you're currently in is now your new home. Consider the card that you have obtained your citizenship. However, staying here comes with a price.

As you already know, your worlds were destroyed. And we are here to help restore those worlds into proper order. But in order to do that, you must obtain Fragments. These mysterious Fragments will then power our ship's Revival Program. Those can be found in various worlds.

Now, if you have any further questions, now is the time to ask."

And she opens up the floor for questions--any questions.

[ OOC: Welcome, everyone, to a long form PSL in the form of Fragment Space! The premise of this is that your character's universes have been destroyed -- player's choice on the how -- and they have been rescued by the Captain to adventure to various worlds.

This PSL will very much be an exploration/mystery setup, with various types of settings that I will work with players on.

In terms of moving things along, I will try to make sure that things move smoothly at least once a month. If you need to contact me for any questions/comments/concerns, please ping me either on plurk (tsundereban) or Discord (tsunderebans)! As this is an open PSL for my timeline, characters who participate may also interact with each other if they'd like, or keep things separate. I'm willing to run with things either way. ]

[ Her cheeks pinken just a little. ]

Well, Aoi admires her a lot, so...

Hm? Yes, Aoi admires her... she's done so much for me. Aoi is technically her senior, but... she's helped Aoi so much it almost feels like it's the other way around.

[ Aoi's expression brightens momentarily before she quickly catches herself. ]

A-Ah, sorry, Aoi is saying something weird, aren't I?

That's...

[She doesn't know what to say here, she feels like she heard something that she really shouldn't have.]

I just don't really expect someone to look up to Ruka of all people.

Is it really that surprising? She's quite eccentric, but Aoi thinks that's part of her charm.

[ Ruka wouldn't be Ruka if she weren't always so... well, Ruka. ]

You understand, don't you Izumi-san?

Well, I can't say I disagree that her eccentricities are what make Ruka herself... but I can't say that I look up to her for those things.

Really? Well, that's the case for Aoi, at least. She has many strengths that Aoi lacks, and it's thanks to her that Aoi's confidence was able to grow, even if only just a little.

Rather than look up to her...

[She trails off a little. Noticing that her grip on the pillow she had been holding was a little too tight, that she was a little too tense, she loosens up a bit.]

I used to be her fan, before joining the Seraph squad. Specifically, of her music.

[Or at least, the human Izumi Yuki did.]

It... [No, that's too sentimental. She shouldn't say it.] It's kind of different now, being a part of her band, her squad. I don't want to be someone who's looking up to her. I want to be someone who can stand by her side, and support her. There are things that I can do that she can't and vice versa, after all.

[ For a moment, Aoi just silently stares at Yuki, almost like she's about to pokaaaan again... but she doesn't. ]

[ Then, she smiles. ]

Mm... you really are amazing, Izumi-san. I'd never even thought of it that way... Kayamori-san is lucky to have someone like you by her side.

You think so...? I just really said what I was thinking. I mean, even more so in the situation we're in, we have to stick together.

Mm, I do. Having someone who cares so strongly is invaluable, squad or otherwise. It seems Aoi is a step behind you in that regard.

[ Aoi wants to be a protector... and it's hard to imagine standing next to someone when she's more apt at standing in front or behind. Come to think of it, Ichigo got upset at her for that mindset, didn't she? Old habits die hard, but perhaps someday she'll break it. ]

Aoi hasn't formed that kind of bond yet... Aoi still has a long way to go. However, you and Kayamori-san do, and that's something worth treasuring.

Well, it'd be hard to not care after...

[She holds her tongue.

From Aoi's perspective, it mustn't have been that long since their squad formed. It would be strange to say it like that, wouldn't it?

Well, everyone's different, so you don't need to form a bond like ours. You can form your own, uh... special bond, because you're Aoi.

[Yeah, nailed it. Although that sounded a little sappy... she's going to regret this later, isn't she?]

[ Aoi notices that pause. It's a little strange, everybody from the Seraph Squadron has been acting just a little unusually, but... surely it's just her imagination, right? ]

Aoi's own... special bond...?

[ It's sappy, but if anything, Aoi is plenty receptive to sappiness. ]

Mm... you're right, Izumi-san! Aoi will do her very best!

[ As long as Yuki doesn't mind uh, competition? ]

Then, to start, Aoi will go and get one of those for myself...
