horrible decisions the au: a day in emiya shirou's life ( closed )
[ It had been a year since he had last seen his father. He was finally a second year in high school, and was proud to call himself Emiya Shirou, Emiya Kiritsugu's son. Of course, he might notice before he walks back into the house that several women - some from his year, some younger, and some being Fuji-nee - had just left the premises to go to other places, not that Shirou cared all that much where they were going, as long as they were safe.
Cleaning up the table and plates from the kitchen table whilst still leaving one - he knew Kiritsugu was going to come soon. He promised. Which is why he was cleaning up the mess of the others so that his old man could have a nice serene breakfast; even if he may or may not have eaten yet.
But he himself hadn't eaten yet, instead sitting down next to the table in seiza style as he waited. It wasn't as if Kiritsugu had seen the ladies exiting his house just when he arrived, right? ]

Huh.
(He almost double-takes when he sees the girl with the blond hair, when she looks at him and avoids eye contact to go outside with the girl in pigtails. What a strange coincidence.)
Heaving a light breath, Kiritsugu slides open the screen door and announces his presence by clearing his throat, letting his eyes settle on his son sitting primly on the tatami. ]
Shirou. I'm home. [ A mild smile, for Shirou's efforts. ] This place's gotten livelier than when I left.

Welcome home, old man. Do you want to eat anything? I already made breakfast.
[ He isn't dodging the subject, though he really doesn't want to touch upon if... Oh. It doesn't look like he's upset, that's good. Just as planned. To an extent anyway, as he heaves a sigh of relief. ]
Yeah. They come every morning to check up on me and help with the cooking and cleaning. I told them that you were coming home today, so they said that they'd leave early so we could have some father and son bonding time... I guess.

I'll have whatever's left— don't spend too much time in the kitchen, though. You need to tell me more about these guests.
[ Time to grill his boy on these girls though, for real. It's a bit of an old habit, he supposes, being wary of people he doesn't know coming in and out of his space; Shirou is too good for his own good, but at the very least, it doesn't look like he's being taken advantage of.
...Hopefully. ]

[ He'll fix the table's arrangements, setting out plates filled with enough food for a grown man. He's learned a lot, which is why today's breakfast is more Western than his usual Japanese style; an omelette with bacon, cheese, and ham along with a bowl of mixed fruit. ]
So... what exactly do you want know about them?

He puts his hands together in "itadakimasu" position, settling down for the long haul. ]
Where you met them, for one. School?
[ Does that sound a little like an interrogation? Hm.
A beat, and he clarifies: ] I wouldn't want to jeopardize your social life by being around.

... Yeah. Tohsaka's an honor student who's in my year, and Sakura's my kouhai. [ Let's not mention the blondes, because even he doesn't know how to explain that...... ]
Ah, don't worry about that. They said it's fine, and besides, I haven't seen you in a year.
