New year, new call me out, and more chances to play with me for whatever reason you want. Of course, I have a preference for shipping trash, but it doesn't have to go that way, if you don't want it. [ That gun has her a touch nervous, though. She's never had to fight someone with one before. But. Yuri only has so many bullets. Only so many chances to aim. All Alalia has to do with her sword is swing. ]

[ "Hikari" is trying her very best to be indifferent, to put some space away and keep her true feelings away from others. She can't have emotions, especially for a child as young as he is. Then again, she isn't a child any longer, she's an adult, a modified witch.

It doesn't help that the area he's managed to find himself in is a rather apocalyptic city -- one where many of the buildings are torn to shreds and the only sign of life, really, is her. And the small penguin that's by her side, which, ironically, isn't a Pokémon.

This is the first time in ages that she's actually spoken to someone that isn't her familiar. ]

[Taiki is surprised at finding someone else wandering through this lifeless city, and that surprise is easily readable on his face. His eyes are still wide, but it shifts into something a little more determined as he recalls his purpose here.]

I... don't have any choice but to be here. My partner might be in this place... [Longing softens his voice, but it quickly becomes unwavering again.] I have to find out if he's here. I'll look for as long as it takes to find out.

[He glances carefully at the young woman, something more sympathetic gentling his expression.] ...Who are you, though? What are you doing in a place like this?

[ "Partner." That definitely reminds her of somebody that she used to know. Somebody that should be dead. Maybe she should amuse him for a bit; it might ease her out of this spiral of thoughts that keep on whirling around in her head. Along with the boredom of having almost nothing to do. ]

Don't have a choice? What, are you new? [ That shouldn't be possible. BREW, which brought people here was... destroyed. It couldn't bring people, nor send them back. It's the sole reason why she's given up. ] If he didn't come with you, your partner, whoever he is, isn't here.

In this dismal world of despair.

[ There's no hope for it, after all. But she scoffs at his question at who she is. She's- ] Hikari. Let's just say I'm one of the bad, evil villains who make sure that goody little two shoes stay out of this town.

...Hikari, huh? I'm Taiki. [He gives her a careful, considering look.] I guess that makes it your job to keep me out of here. Although I have to wonder how evil you really are...

[Because he remembers Nene - remembers her broken smile as she'd called herself a witch. Hurting all that time while he hadn't known...

[ It was way too easy to get herself into the Aether Foundation. And now that she's made her way to see the president in her office, she already knows what she's meant to say and do in her politest voice as she knocks on the door. ]

Excuse me...! Is Miss Lusamine here? My name is Hazama Rei, and I'm a specialist who was asked to speak directly to the president.

[Lusamine was just finishing up some paperwork when she hears that voice. Odd, that's a rather young voice for a specialist. She gets up to open the door herself. Faba loathed young people but it must be important if she was sent directly to Lusamine herself.]

That would be me, yes. [She opens the door to look at her.] What's this about?

[ She got Lusamine to show her face. That makes things a lot easier, as all she has to do now is talk in that serious, hypnotic voice of hers, full of power. ]

You see, I was brought in to make you relax, unwind, and listen to every single word I say.

[ Emphasis especially on that last part. ] You'll let me into your office, won't you?

[That...that certainly is a cute girl. She's going to respond when she hears those words. That's very reasonable. She could use someone to help her relax. ...Though that last bit seems odd for some reason.

No matter. She moves aside to let Rei in.]
