[It's been a while since Mei really played around with that pendulum. ...in fact, she'd say it was a little too long. With how their private life seemed to be accelerating non-stop, it was nice to just take a step back, slow down and enjoy each other's company more normally for a change -- for a certain definition of it, anyway. There was nothing truly normal about having to juggle facing off the Honkai and their lives in the city, after all.

But... it did open up quite a few possibilities; the last time they used it, she was able to give Inaba some freedom from being... well, herself. From needing that sense of control, from needing to know everything. This time, it would be more of the same, but... maybe she could gently let out the side of Inaba that was often buried so deep within, that softer her. Alternatively, she could play around with the idea of Inaba being her overly affectionate kitten...

...she did have quite a few mental images for how both these things would go, but seeing was believing. So for her own sake, she opts to withhold those thoughts until she puts them to work.

In a rare change of pace, too, Mei would have Inaba visiting her rather than the other way around, on what was otherwise an average cloudy day. It's not often that Inaba gets out of the little apartment they'd arranged for her, and it did take a bit of convincing... but if there was anywhere she'd feel particularly safe, it was here. She could still work on what she needed to, even if they'd miss having that simulator for a bit...

At this point, it was just a matter of when she'd arrive.]

Mafuyu, one of your devices was recently hacked and has been sending you hypnotic commands. You've been ordered to 'collect' another student using any means you 'want' - seduction, slipping the hack into one of her devices...

Your master has provided you whatever equipment you would need for how you intend to carry this out.

Rita's completely unaware of this whole situation and is at home going over her handwritten notes, typing them into a laptop at the desk in her house - a smallish but sufficient affair with a lot of tech stuff wired in.

What's your plan to do this? How are you behaving right now? And for that matter, who might your master be and what's their plan beyond 'probably some gay shit'?]

[A spider's web spreads wide and far, and no matter how careful one is, how determined one might be to cut the strands and loosen its control, eventually, they'll become ensnared.

Kanade is a formidable witch. Despite her rather frail demeanor, when she sets her mind to something, she'll see it done. She may be terrible at taking care of herself and standing up for herself, but when it comes to those she cares about? She'll fight with every scrap of energy left in her body. That's how it's been for months, now; when her dearest friend had shown up on her doorstep one night, soaked to the bone and shivering from a mix of chill and overwhelming emotion, Kanade had switched herself into full Protect mode. She'd warded her little cottage far out in the woods with layer upon layer of spells, spreading them out even into the woods surrounding them. Alarm spells were set, spirit and animal familiars were on alert - nothing could step foot in this forest without her knowing. All to protect Mafuyu.

But Kanade had made a mistake.

For all that she'd done to keep Mafuyu protected, she hadn't afforded the same care for herself. Kanade never does. Without any wards around her mind, she's easy prey. Especially when she received a letter from the Lady Asahina; an attempt to parlay, to discuss in a civilized manner the topic of the girl currently living with Kanade.

Kanade had been alert when they met, but it wasn't enough. She had been expecting a normal human, or one with only budding magical potential, like Mafuyu. But the moment she'd been left alone in a sitting room in the mansion that had acted as nothing but a gilded bird cage for her dearest friend, she'd felt fingers in her brain and fangs at her ear. Kanade had barely a second to realize what was happening before that sweet, poisonous fog had filled her head, and all that resonated in her mind was a deep, alluring voice...

"All I want is for my dearest child to return home, safe where she belongs. She won't listen to me - but you. She'll listen to you, my new pet. Do your best to convince her, won't you?"

The voice was like honey, sickeningly sweet but leaving a heavy, syrupy feeling in her head. Despite something nagging at the back of her mind... yes. It made sense. If she could guide Mafuyu home, if she was given the chance to stay with her... everyone could be happy, couldn't they? If she can prove to Mafuyu that she can make her feel good, it doesn't matter where Mafuyu is, as long as they're together, right?

It's that thought, not that scratching at the back of her mind, that sticks with Kanade as she makes her way home. Past the wards and the guards, straight through the front door. Her home isn't particularly large, but she still has to look about to search for where Mafuyu has squirreled herself away for the day.]

Mafuyu? Are you here?

[ Mafuyu comes back to the Yoisaki home late and alone one night.

It's rather strange - she hadn't mentioned anything about having to go to club that day and hadn't been answering any of her phone calls or Nightcord messages; it's only when she finally arrives back, keys turning and door opening...

But there isn't a single word of "I'm back" from Mafuyu, just searching eyes wandering and the quiet sound of her own footsteps as she looks for Kanade almost desperately. ]

[Hinomoto Productions was a small, yet growing agency that needed more big names and faces to go with the movies that they were making. The manager, Yeyasu Edogawa, had a ton of big ideas... But he was still looking for that special 'jewel' that could make it all come to together. He was a rookie at his work, but he had to fill in his father's shoes. The works that his old man had left behind were too amazing for words!

That's why he felt that he could use his family's heirloom to his advantage to make his agency bigger. It was a magical staff that was said to be gifted with hypnotic qualities. At first, he was afraid of putting his fingers on this staff as he was worried about the potential bad luck... But the first time that he used it, the hypnotic spell had worked like a charm. And the other times that he used it had been smooth sailing so far!

It was said that once he had someone under his control, he could get them to do anything he wanted with that staff. Yeyasu felt on top of the world right now... That's why whenever one of his agents had called in to bring in the new potential actress, he was quite excited to meet them. He would make this girl's potential shine for sure... After all, he had the 'power' to bring it out.

Kana would be bought into Yeyasu's office as he sits proudly in his desk. His long ears wiggle with excitement.]

Yoooo! ★ So you're the girl that I've hearin' quite a bit about. Welcome to Hinomoto Productions, babe! The name's Yeyasu Edogawa and I heard you were interested in the lead role for a movie we got coming up?

[Karen's far from the only person looking up to Mafuyu. She stands out from that crowd mostly because, well, she stands out. She's pretty, she's smart, she's from a rich family, and those who went to the same middle school as her remember how popular she was as student council president. If any of Mafuyu's admirers were going to catch her attention, it's not surprising that it would be Karen.

Especially since her classmates remember her as the type to try to do everything for everyone, so her mind would likely be receptive to becoming just what one person wanted her to be.
