"Welcome to the S.S Phoenix! We hope you enjoy your stay!"

You open your eyes feeling a little stiff. The last thing you recall is seeing your planet get destroyed before a hand reached out to you--Captain's hand. You were then greeted with the same introductory phrase before receiving the keys to their brand new dorm, a device--you're told it's called the Babelfish, something that allows you to interact with others through the interdimensional network--and perhaps an extra thing or two.

You are then ushered into the onboarding area, where you can see your fellow passengers. Some foreign faces, perhaps even some familiar ones. Before you are given any time to think, however, Captain, at the head of the room, speaks up.

"Once again, welcome new guests, to the S.S. Phoenix! You may call me Captain. Today is your first day of onboarding, where you can get to learn more about us and your fellow passengers.

We are part of the Interdimensional Galactic Coalition, a system that was created to keep order and peace amongst the multiverse. This ship that you're currently in is now your new home. Consider the card that you have obtained your citizenship. However, staying here comes with a price.

As you already know, your worlds were destroyed. And we are here to help restore those worlds into proper order. But in order to do that, you must obtain Fragments. These mysterious Fragments will then power our ship's Revival Program. Those can be found in various worlds.

Now, if you have any further questions, now is the time to ask."

And she opens up the floor for questions--any questions.

[ OOC: Welcome, everyone, to a long form PSL in the form of Fragment Space! The premise of this is that your character's universes have been destroyed -- player's choice on the how -- and they have been rescued by the Captain to adventure to various worlds.

This PSL will very much be an exploration/mystery setup, with various types of settings that I will work with players on.

In terms of moving things along, I will try to make sure that things move smoothly at least once a month. If you need to contact me for any questions/comments/concerns, please ping me either on plurk (tsundereban) or Discord (tsunderebans)! As this is an open PSL for my timeline, characters who participate may also interact with each other if they'd like, or keep things separate. I'm willing to run with things either way. ]

[That'd be great... is what she would say if she didn't suddenly get a coughing fit.]

Gimme a moment to catch my breath first... oww, feels like I swallowed my choco cigarettes wrong...

Can ya even eat like that...?

[Like, legitimate question. But alright, she'll just let the plush Ruka sit on the palm of her hand.]

[teheperinko]

[...well, at least nothing feels awful with her throat now, but-]

I mean, I don't know how plushie anatomy works, but it happened anyway! What I swallowed felt awfully like a shiny rock of some sort... it might've had pointy ends too...

[THAT'S NOT SOMETHING YOU WANT TO SAY AFTER BECOMING A PLUSHIE THAT COULD BE CUT OPEN-]

YOU WHAT!? Oi, are ya alright!?

[Megumi might be actively feeling up the plush Ruka to make sure she's not ripped anywhere or anything.]

[teheperinko]

I'm fine, I'm fine!! No need to touch anywhere weird, Megumin!

[Aaaaand she's flailing around now.]

It kinda just melted in my mouth after a bit! I don't think it'll rip anything like that!

[yersavior]

[...well, she'll at least put the hand that was touching Ruka away-]

And nothin' else happened?

[teheperinko]

[She has to pause for a moment...

...and once it sinks in, she's looking as grim as her plush face will let her look.]

...something did happen, actually, now that you bring it up.

[yersavior]

[She might not be able to see it in her face, but she certainly can hear it in her voice, so Megumi asks kindly:]

What is it?

[teheperinko]

...it was a really lonely memory.

The person I was looking through the eyes of... she was really desperate to remember herself. Who she was. The people she met. Important things, little things... everything. I couldn't get to see what they were -- like, I was seeing what she saw, but not really able to do anything.

I can't really get some of the things I heard out of my head. She... really didn't have the best opinion of herself. Like she treated herself as a husk that should've been put down instead of rescued.

Whatever she went through before she got here... I can't just sit back and let her deal with it herself.

[Someone that doesn't have the best opinion of themselves, huh. She can relate to that; after all, she didn't have the best opinion of herself either. Not until much recently.]

Then we'll help her.

[Ruka's voice lightens as she responds.]

Thanks, Megumin. It might take a bit of coaxing, but... I'm sure we'll get through to her.

That'll have to wait until this is over, though... man, it feels weird to actually be a marketable plushie.

[Now that she's feeling a little less nauseous, she opts to stand up, even if a bit shakily due to her awkward plush feet.]

Mind putting me on your shoulder for a bit? I wanna see if I missed anything after I fell.

[yersavior]

'Course. If ya wanna help someone, I'm gonna support ya all the way.

[She's actually going to check over Ruka one more time first, wondering--]

D'ya have a price tag or somethin'?

[Megumi????????????

Well, up Ruka goes, onto her shoulder.]

[teheperinko]

I don't think I have one on me? Or at least, I don't think I do... [Not that she's particularly interested in looking herself over right now. She needs to see if there're any more of those shards lying around.

...of course, she has to carefully drape herself on that shoulder once she remembers she can't exactly grip things properly at the moment.] I don't wanna imagine the price tag they'd even put on me anyway. Like, people would probably resort to stealing with how merch gets priced these days...

[yersavior]

I'll make sure ya don't get stolen, then. Or any of the others, if I see 'em.

[...well, maybe the Commander can be an- no, she can't even joke about that.

But there seems to be a shadow moving behind one of the shelves that Ruka might notice.]

[teheperinko]

[The day she sees the battleaxe being a plushie aficionado would be the same day she starts calling her Bazooka openly...

She has to table responding to Megumi's words for a moment, though-]

Wait-

[-especially when she's laser-focused on that shadow creeping among the shelves.]

Megumin, over there!

[She wags one of her plush hands in that general direction.]

[yersavior]

[With a lowered voice:]

What should we do? Check it out?

Yeah. Let's try not to spook whoever it is too badly...

[...of course, that might be a bit too late; it clicks after she says that that she'd raised her voice just now. She has no idea how far it carries like this, but if Megumi can hear her just fine...

Well, this might be awkward.]

[yersavior]

[She nods, walking slowly.]

Ooooi, is someone there? We're just yer friendly neighborhood psychic an' plushie--

[MEGUMI???

Except whoever the shadow was, they're bolting; they seem to be making a break for it, and that's Megumi's cue to glance at Ruka for a second, we giving chase??]

[teheperinko]

Ack-!

[Well, they can't just not follow her after all that!]

Don't let her get away!!

[yersavior]

On it! Ya ain't getting away...!

[Aaaaand we're giving chase.

The worst part about this chase is, well. Megumi is actually hilariously faster than whoever the shadow is, because she's basically caught up in seconds to the point where the girl is yelling:

"How the hell are you so fast?!"

And, well. Ruka will recognize the voice, easy. It's the same voice of the girl in the memory shard, and the one she'd nicknamed "Ricchan", before.

Girl's still running though, trying to go all the way to the back of the store.]

[teheperinko]

[Well.

It's not going to take long for her to pick up on that, even as a plush. She's trying her hardest to not flail and fall off Megumi's shoulder as it sinks in.] R-Ricchan!? Wait, don't go-! It's just me, Ruka!

[moepcs]

[ And that's when she pauses in her running, but she doesn't turn around. Instead, she offers: ]

I want to be left alone for now.

[teheperinko]

[Ruka's heart stops for a moment. The pain creeps into her voice as only one word leaves her lips.]
