OPEN PSL ❖ fragment space

"Welcome to the S.S Phoenix! We hope you enjoy your stay!"
- You open your eyes feeling a little stiff. The last thing you recall is seeing your planet get destroyed before a hand reached out to you--Captain's hand. You were then greeted with the same introductory phrase before receiving the keys to their brand new dorm, a device--you're told it's called the Babelfish, something that allows you to interact with others through the interdimensional network--and perhaps an extra thing or two.
You are then ushered into the onboarding area, where you can see your fellow passengers. Some foreign faces, perhaps even some familiar ones. Before you are given any time to think, however, Captain, at the head of the room, speaks up.
"Once again, welcome new guests, to the S.S. Phoenix! You may call me Captain. Today is your first day of onboarding, where you can get to learn more about us and your fellow passengers.
We are part of the Interdimensional Galactic Coalition, a system that was created to keep order and peace amongst the multiverse. This ship that you're currently in is now your new home. Consider the card that you have obtained your citizenship. However, staying here comes with a price.
As you already know, your worlds were destroyed. And we are here to help restore those worlds into proper order. But in order to do that, you must obtain Fragments. These mysterious Fragments will then power our ship's Revival Program. Those can be found in various worlds.
Now, if you have any further questions, now is the time to ask."
And she opens up the floor for questions--any questions.
[ OOC: Welcome, everyone, to a long form PSL in the form of Fragment Space! The premise of this is that your character's universes have been destroyed -- player's choice on the how -- and they have been rescued by the Captain to adventure to various worlds.
This PSL will very much be an exploration/mystery setup, with various types of settings that I will work with players on.
Locations for the S.S. Phoenix can be found here, and current NPC information can be found here.
In terms of moving things along, I will try to make sure that things move smoothly at least once a month. If you need to contact me for any questions/comments/concerns, please ping me either on plurk (
MINI EVENT: MAID DAY
Happy maid day!
Please, try on our maid outfits, they're on sale today! Each outfit has a special property, so feel free to test them out as needed. ♪
This sale is only available during maid day and maid day only!
[ Because of this sale, people will notice that the clothing section of the ship only has maid and butler outfits to wear. There are different kinds of outfits and they have different effects which include the following:
1) The supernatural ability to clean everything effortlessly and perfectly without any problems.
2) You can never get dirty, as long as you're wearing the outfit.
3) The skills of an RPG maid, meaning that you can use staffs, guns, and daggers.
There's also one more catch. You can't remove the outfit for 24 hours once you've worn it.
Have fun! ]
NPC-chan
There's something in her eyes that's almost reads as nostalgic as she speaks to herself, under her breath: ]
It's been a long time since I've worn one of these... I probably don't suit it anymore, do I?
[ She reaches towards one of the dresses and her hand phases through it, causing her to sigh. ]
Figures.
this dumbass,
[Maid outfits? No thanks. Ruka is nowhere near interested in getting in one. It's like wearing a swimsuit, just for a different kind of weirdo fan! ...okay, maybe She Is Legend isn't really known around these parts, but even so, it's not something she's actively pursuing.
...or so she thought, but then she got an idea and wanted to pull something especially dumb. If she could get Yuki into one, then maybe, just maybe...! But that just leaves a problem: which one would actually fit her? And for that matter, would she be able to convince her to wear one?
...maybe she'd be fine wearing one just this once, and then she could just chuck it off. Yeah, that would do it. It's a one and done thing anyway, so she'll be perfectly fine giving it a go just for the memes...
Ruka, with that in mind, commits to just chucking on the red maid outfit she finds, and brings a blue one over to Yuki. Of course, someone can run into her along the way and wave her down, at which point she skids to a stop without missing a beat.]
What's up? You need me for something?
[...of course, the fun doesn't quite last, and after she's had her fill and tries to take the thing off, Ruka can now be found wandering around the ship -- or rather, sneaking around it, trying not to be seen too much. Of all the times for her to be stuck in this thing...]
Why did they have to put some kinda magic glue onto this outfit!? I just wanted to play around in maid outfits for a bit then put them away!
wandering
[Sorry, Megumi can hear you and has now had the (un)fortunate timing of actually spotting her.]

[Oh, thank Bazooka, she might be able to get out of this yet--
She's already running over to grab the psychiccer by the shoulders, throwing any caution to the wind.]
You gotta help me! It's just not coming off no matter how much I try!

no subject
That's one way to put it! Even the apron and cap feel like they're superglued to me!
[Ruka promptly presents the maid cap to Megumi as if to say, 'just pull on it, you'll see'.

[And on three she's going to tug.
Unfortunately, it does not come off, but the tugging might hurt a little bit.]

But then again, if they're only going to be on sale today, then what's the harm... right? She may as well get started on making new memories now, right?
Thus... Maid Aoi was born. ]
Mnn...
[ She stands in front of the mirror, looking herself over from multiple angles... and when
she thinksnobody is looking, flashes a smile and pose at her reflection......at which point her cheeks promptly turn red. ]
I knew it, Aoi looks weird...
[ Though it's nice to be wearing something a little less tight around the chest, the skirt is just... a bit too short for her liking. It doesn't seem that way because of how frilly it is, and it's hardly indecent, but still. A good gust and the whole thing would just start flapping upward...! ]
Aoi will put this back... hm? Huh?
[ ... ]
It won't come off!?
[ Uh oh. ]
no subject
...and, well, when she spots Aoi, she has to offer her words, even if they are probably less than encouraging:]
Oh, yeah. The maid outfits're hexed.
[YEAH.]
no subject
[ More occult...!? Seriously, where is Kozue when you need her!? ]
Why are they hexed!? Is Aoi gonna be stuck as a maid for the rest of her life!?
[
Look on the bright side, Aoi. You're the best thunder unit in the game now— ]no subject
[She shrugs her shoulders.]
It ain't evil energy or anythin' like that, though.
no subject
[ Before it had been manageable, but now that she can't take it off, she's suddenly feeling way more self-conscious about it. She can only handle being a maid for so long...! ]
C-Can you do something about it, Aikawa-san...?
[ She says feebly, asking even though she can see Megumi still wearing a maid outfit herself. ]
no subject
[That answer came practically immediately.]
I ain't got a "remove hexes" ability, I can only sense 'em. I already tried pulling off Ruka's uniform earlier, but no dice, so we're just stuck in these 'til they wear off.

......it's a little bit of a selfish vision, but who's counting?
So she finds a couple she likes, waffling between them before choosing to just get both of them. It's fine, right? That's what sales are for! The long, elegant chocolate-brown one with the full front apron, cinched with a black ribbon, goes into her basket with the club-pack of canvases; the shorter, royal-blue one, which curiously has discreet pockets and vaguely reminds her of something her idol friends might wear on a variety show, she starts to try on, careful to keep the tag intact... unless someone walks by, in which case she flags them down, and holds both up.]
I don't know if I want to go for old-school, or the modern maid-cafe vibe. Elegant and classic might be fun and it just carries that reliable feeling, but then there's the charm of something that shows a little skin and gives off the vibe of someone that'll take care of business. What do you think?
[By the time she's tried one on and realized there's something else about them, though, Ena's... well, not as scandalized as she might otherwise be? It is still cute, it's just weird, and while it's making her a little self-conscious, she's definitely worn worse, even relatively recently. Especially relatively recently. So she's exploring, first the Apus and later the Phoenix, doing some more of the familiarization she probably should have been doing a week or two ago. Oh well, such is life!
What's a little stranger about her, at least today, is that she's oddly... observant, and reactive? Someone bumps a table and a glass of water starts to fall, and in a flash Ena is there, hand outstretched to not only catch it but keep it upright without a drop spilling, stilling the table and returning it gently.]
Hey, careful! That could've been bad. [A beat, as Ena's actions catch up with her.] Wait, what the-
((Ena got stuck with hypercompetence specifically for preventing broken things and messes, in this outfit. This includes people. I know what the other one does if you want that instead, it'll be fun. Well. Maybe not for her.))
Re: MINI EVENT: MAID DAY
See, Lori grew up on pirated anime and a lot of it. Which means she is highly exposed to maid tropes of all manner of varieties, even by the standards of anime-world superhero types like herself.
And that means the idea of being a maid or being served by one has been one of those things she's dreamed about without necessarily noticing she was dreaming about it until now.]
Wait. Maid day's actually a thing?
[Blink blink. Her poor lesbian brain is dealing with some seriously crossed wires right now, and now it's YOUR opportunity to make it worse!]
no subject
[And here's one who is already in a maid dress herself, looking rather confident.]
Guess anything's possible in space.
no subject
Erm. R-right. I just. Never ran into this outside of anime before and it's like. Er. Obviously different in person. Right?
[Lori's own issues with her appearance may be influencing her as she continues to glance around.]
no subject
[Yanagi is very...atypical, when it comes to maids.]
Ruka'd know more 'bout her than me, though.

Any idea what the special property is, out of curiosity?
