[ she's seen a lot of things in her short time on the astral express - in the short time she's been capable of forming new memories. trains that fly through the stars. machines with memories predating all surrounding life. immortal beings, passing down from reincarnation to reincarnation.

...the clone on the other side of the hot spring is definitely new, though.

stelle doesn't try to get her attention. for one, she might be a mirage. for another thing, she might be her evil twin. but most importantly, she'll probably see her at some point anyway. so she just... watches, for a moment.

...huh. she looks a lot prettier when she's not in a mirror. ]

[ Seeing someone look like her made her pause - she couldn't help but remember the words of one Mister Welt Yang, who said that the possibility of this sort of thing in other worlds was not inconceivable.

But what she also recalls is that her own circumstances were anything less than normal.

She couldn't be one hundred percent sure on what this is. But you know what they say about curiosity and cats. ]

It's kind of strange that you look exactly like me.

[ Might as well break the metaphorical ice here by speaking up. ]

...I was wondering which one of us was going to point it out first.

[ they even sound identical. well, mostly identical. there's definitely a moment of do i really sound like that? as the other stelle talks, but that's overtaken pretty quickly by is it weird to think my voice is kind of nice? ]

I'm pretty sure Mr. Yang mentioned something like this...

Mmm.

[ She hums with contemplation, trying to look at the other Stelle over, as if trying to size her up. ]

So you know him, too...

Mmm. Himiko, March 7th, Dan Heng... you probably know everyone on the Astral Express too. Right?

[ oh. stelle- the other stelle, that is, is looking her up and down. that's a bit embarrassing, isn't it...? still, she scoots a few feet over, not quite closing the distance but still getting close enough to easily talk. ]

So... Which one of us is from the evil universe?

[starwill]

... Do one of us have to be from the evil universe? I thought the whole thing about doppelgangers was that you'd die if you saw one of yourself.

HGW - Master/Servant

[Stelle could literally be doing anything. She could be asleep... She could in the middle of a fight of her life or she could be out for a walk. Either way, time will freeze around her and everything comes to a shocking halt. In this frozen space, she's the only one who can move and her mobile device is going to glow with a blue light. This would cue the beginning of her long and painful destiny.

What appears in front of her is a blue fairy who floats in front of her. She cocks a smile at Stelle and flashes the young girl a wink.]

Ya-ho! ☆ Hello there, puny mortal~! Looks like you've been selected by the whimsical whims of fate!

[ I don't know if 'puny' is the right word you should be using here...

Those are words that Stelle herself thinks to herself but doesn't say aloud. Although her eyes do narrow slightly before she actually asks the question that's on her mind: ]

What do you mean?

[vandalizer]

Baaaaasicallly.... I'm here to tell you that you're a lucky candidate to join in our lovely Holy Grail War!

[Mare crosses her legs in a rather condescending manner and folds her arms. She felt that this girl should feel honored to be selected here!]

What will happen is that you'll be given a Servant to participate in a grand battle where you'll fight against other Master and Servant pairs and become Number #1 under the sun! The winner will obtain the good ol' sparkly Holy Grail that can grand one wish to the winner!

And this wish of yours can be annnnything you want. World peace, infinite ice cream... All that jazz. ♥ Sounds like fun, right?

And what's the catch?

[vandalizer]

Catch? I threw everything including the kitchen sink at you! What's the problem~?

[starwill]

I was wondering why it has to be a war to begin with.

[vandalizer]

That's just the natural order of things! But if you have a wish to stop this war altogether, then I don't think the Holy Grail will deny you.

[starwill]

But if I had to make a wish by participating in a war in order to stop a war, wouldn't that be...contradictory?

I'm not even sure if I'm really human.

[ So she shrugs. ]

[vandalizer]

[Her lips curl in even further amusement.]

Is that so? Then how were you born exactly?

[starwill]

Rather than born... I think I was created.

[vandalizer]

Soooo.... Do you know the purpose of your creation? Or did your creator just leave you high and dry?

[starwill]

If I knew it at one point... I've forgotten it.

[vandalizer]

Huh... You remind me of someone I know. He forgot his whole past life too.

[starwill]

Maybe I'll get to meet him sometime.

[ ... ]

Anyway, I suppose I can participate in this "war" of yours.

[vandalizer]

Ooooh! Now we're talking!

[She says playing clapping her hands together.]

Actually, I think he'll be a good match for you as your new Servant. A bit of a grumpy-pants, but he's a real softie deep down. Think you got what it takes?

Pretty sure. If I don't, I'll probably be dead.
